LIVING IN ORLANDO
Orlando is a relatively large city located in the state of Florida. With a population of 285,713 people and 149 constituent neighborhoods, Orlando is the fifth largest community in Florida.
Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Orlando is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Orlando is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Orlando who work in sales jobs (12.64%), office and administrative support (12.60%), and management occupations (10.37%).
Also of interest is that Orlando has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.
Orlando is a popular destination for single career-starters. One thing that you will notice when you are out and about town is that there is a large population of people who are young, single, educated, and upwardly-mobile career starters out at restaurants, listening to live music, and enjoying other activities. Orlando also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 31.11% of the city’s residents. Important ancestries of people in Orlando include German, Irish, English, Italian, and Haitian.
Orlando also has a high percentage of its population that was born in another country: 21.17%.
The most common language spoken in Orlando is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and French.
